Old Dominion British Car

Trips to VIR, the
Parkway and Homestead Restaurant
We had a very active June-July period with outings to
VIR or the Gold Cup races, and to the Blue Ridge
Parkway and peaks of Otter, as well as evening fives
to dinner at the Homestead restaurant in Roxboro, NC
and Chub's lake restaurant also near Roxboro. We had
good turnouts for all the events, particularly at VIR,
and the peaks of Otter. The weather is now really hot,
and driving top-down presents a different set of
challenges, as driving in the middle of the day
require good hydration, a good wide hat, and high-SPF
cream, not to mention maintaining a respectable speed
to keep the air flowing in the cockpit.
The pictures of the
Wake Forest MG Club Show trip
are now up!!!
Three cars made it to the Carolinas MG Club show in
Wake Forest, NC. The show was a little different
from other shows, plenty of MGs of course, with a good
show of Triumph TR6 and some exotica thrown in for
good measure. The trip through Roxboro and Oxford was
a delight, as the roads were smooth and wide with just
the right mount of twisties, and a made-to-order
weather. The show was held at "The Factory," an
excellent indor and outdoor sports complex just North
of Raleigh. Though we did not collect any hardware
-the competition was top notch- we had an excellent
outing with great company and making new friends. This
show is certainly one that we will not want to miss in
future years. Some good pictures came out of the trip,
let me know if you'd like full resolution copies.
Trip to
the Elkins Rally
There was a great turnout for the trip to Elkins for
the annual rally put on by the Triad Austin Healey
Club. We had seven cars and thirteen people attend,
and three of our members ran the rally. As
first-time runners, we were proud to come in closely
grouped in positions 54, 56, and 57, out of a total of
102 entrants. Steve drove and Chip navigated our first
classified car, and the bragging rights for the year
go to them. The trip was fun, but eventful, as we had
an ignition coil meltdown to compound an initial
ignition switch intermittent cut-out. The TR6 was left
behind and Carlos and Ashley returned the following
day to bring back the ailing Triumph. Lloyd was
kind enough to contribute his trailer, and the
retrieval was uneventful.
April
trip to Dobson Vineyard and Car Show
We had a great trip to the Dobson car
Show and Shelton Vineyard wine tasting. We did
not have overwhelming attendance, but the few of us
who went did have a great time. The weather was
kind, and the rain held of until we were almost home,
apart from a very light sprinkle that caused the timid
ones among us to put the tops up. Lloyd led by example
, and resisted getting the cover on until the rain got
heavy. The lunch at Snappy's lived up to its
reputation, and we were able to dine in style!
Pictures are no up, Check them out!
We will meet at Bob and Debbie's
house in Chatham on December 11, at 11:00 for the
Chatham Christmas Parade and Lasagna Dinner at Bob's
house and our Annual Party afterwards.
